Electronic License Plate

e-Plate is an electronically tagged number plate. The system can identify all vehicles whether on the move or stationary. e-Plate is a standard-looking number plate with an embedded tamperproof, active, RFID tag from IDENTEC SOLUTIONS. The tag is self-powered and continuously transmits the vehicle ID independently of the vehicle's power systems.

This can be the vehicle registration mark or the vehicle identification number also known as the VIN. Once the number plate is fitted to the vehicle, e-Plate is installed. No further modifications are needed. New or existing vehicles can have e-plate fitted in minutes. e-Plate is cost-effective, maintenance-free and secure. With e-Plate, every vehicle can be positively identified at any time, at any speed, whether travelling singly or in dense traffic and in all weather conditions.

Once fitted e-Plate's theft resistant design prevents it being removed and reused on another vehicle. This design conforms to the new voluntary theft resistant standard approved by the UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. The plate breaks up on any unauthorised attempt to remove it and the embedded tag changes transmission status. Nor will placing a false untagged plate over an e-Plate stop the true ID being transmitted. Depending upon the specification required, e-Plate has a guaranteed life of up to ten years.
